Carter joined J&D two years ago. He comes from a logging and maintenance background and has three years of tire and chassis experience with both cars and trucks. He continues to provide excellent vehicle service and inspection work and many other maintenance repairs for us.
Dustin is a recent graduate from the Helena College of Technology in diesel mechanics and he is the chassis, drivetrain, and alignment technician. He is also a certified light- and heavy-duty tow truck driver. Dustin’s warm smile and sincere demeanor helps to build reassurance and trust with the customers.
Meet Gary. Has been with J&D for over 8 years. He is very knowledgeable on both gas and diesel and he works a lot in component-changing and troubleshooting. Gary's always in a good mood and ready to get whatever job he is assigned to done and on its way.
J&D is celebrating almost 41 years of Jerry being the driving force behind our well-stocked parts department. It's his creation and he has made it a real success. Jerry has helped mold J&D into what it is today. I would venture to say that if put up against any parts man in Montana, he would come out on top.
In 1981, Jim started J&D Truck Repair, Inc. and in 1988 he began tow truck operations through his new company, J&D Towing and Recovery, Inc. Jim has also been involved in the Montana Tow Truck Association since 1996 as a member and spent several years as president and a board member until 2021. He also has served on the Towing & Recovery Association of America Executive Board for the last several years and participates in the Capital City Tow Association. Jim is very community-oriented and serves with a Helena volunteer fire department.
John brings over 40 years of truck mechanic experience as a line mechanic, service writer, road service, truck driver, and tow truck driver and he is very good at communicating with customers and servicing their needs. John retired a few years ago and after six months of retirement, he decided that he need to be working. So we are so glad to have him as our second parts person in the parts room. You will find John to be very personable and caring.
Lawson came to J&D two years ago after graduating from Helena College of Technology in diesel mechanics. He is currently doing some service work, troubleshooting, light component change and is one of our heavy- and light-duty certified tow truck operators. He is always ready to help.
Marilyn is part-owner and J&D's accountant/CPA. Since retiring from her previous career as a full-time CPA, she joined us to perform all the bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting functions.
Matt is quite possibly the first person you will meet when entering the shop. As the service writer, Matt is the person you tell your problems to and he will arrange for the repair or possibly handle it himself. Joining J&D in 2019, Matt brings a lot of sevice truck and shop floor experience with him. He is also an ITEC certified tow operator and transport driver.
Rob has been with J&amo;D for a year and brings a lot of heavy-duty truck mechanic experience as well as having done a lot of driving and construction work. He is a very detailed and organized mechanic. Rob's a great addition to the shop.
Tom started with J&D in 1989 as a truck service technician. Today, he is a transport driver and heavy tow truck operator. Tom is likely the driver to come out to pick up your broken vehicle/motorhome to haul or tow it. You'll like Tom - he always has a smile and a happy disposition.
Ty coordinates the work in the shop and schedules tow trucks, transports, container rentals, and sales. Ty is another of the first ones you will meet when you come to the shop for repairs. Friendly and sincere, Ty has been with J&D for over 16 yrs. He brings a lot of experience with him. He started in the service bay and then took over the alignment rack where it was baptism by fire.
Will has been with J&D for over 25 years. Will is the shop foreman and our certified Axle Surgeon. He oversees the activities in the shop and if there's a difficulty, especially an electrical issue, Will is the go-to. His years of experience and knowledge make him a very valuable asset to the other employees as well as the business. Will can take care of any axle problems in western Montana.
